GIZ held its annual work meeting with training centres of the Manager Training Programme (MP) at the end of January. Representatives of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action also took part in the three half-day sessions. The focus of the virtual events with roughly 100 participants was on the implementation of the new programme format; the digitalisation of numerous processes should increase work efficiency. The new training centres in the GIZ contractor pool were familiarised with the programme work.<\/p>\n

In her welcome address, Y\u0131ld\u0131z G\u00f6tze, Head of Division at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), highlighted the points in the new Government\u2019s Coalition Agreement that pertain to the political framework for the Programme activities. She drew attention to sustainability in trade and the principles of the fair and ecologically justifiable international movement of goods, which will come even more clearly to the fore in future. \u201cWe will therefore keep an eye on the courses set and continue to strengthen our relationships with our partner countries regarding foreign economic policy\u201d, G\u00f6tze said.<\/p>\n

\"\"Anne Jach-Kemps, Head of the Manager Training Programme at GIZ, gave an outlook on the implementation of the Programme this year; it is planned that 45 groups of managers will complete their training. Furthermore, the so-called Completion Stays in Germany are to take place for the Programme participants from 2020 and 2021, who were only able to complete the virtual MP due to the pandemic. Jach-Kemps stressed that the Programme stood for \u201ccontinuity, trust and commitment\u201d and thanked the training centres for the flexible and innovative organisation of the Programme during the two years of the pandemic. She was optimistic regarding the continuation of the close and successful collaboration with all training centres. Referring to the foreign executives\u2019 stay in Germany, she said: \u201cPersonal exchange is vital to the Programme, and therefore we want to welcome our participants to Germany again as soon as the pandemic situation permits.\u201d<\/p>\n

In workshops and discussion sessions, the persons responsible at GIZ and the training centres addressed questions concerning the achievement of common quality standards. The implementation of the Programme in the Social-Blended-Learning format represents a modernisation of the Programme. It incorporates new trends in the training market and the opportunities digitalisation offers. Everyone agreed that the basis for the success of the training needed to be created right at the start of the Programme cycle. In addition to support from the trainers and tutors from the training centres, the new programme format provides a closer exchange among the participants themselves than was the case in the past. Both aspects increase the chances of economic success for the represented companies.<\/p>\n

The training centres also familiarised themselves more closely with the \u201cMP Campus\u201d \u2013 the platform set up specially for knowledge transfer and networking \u2013 and learned more about the modernised methods for evaluating the Programme results.<\/p>\n

At the end of the three event days, the representatives of the training centres were extremely satisfied with the new impetus provided. \u201cWe are very much looking forward to the Programme\u201d one representative said. Alexander Wurst, Director of the German Management Academy of Lower Saxony (DMAN), summarised the work meeting, saying: \u201cThe mutual exchange strengthens the quality of the performance we provide for our participants, and the exchange has been successful during this meeting.\u201d<\/p>\n

The training centres acting on behalf of the Manager Training Programme are leading training institutions of the German economy that are entrusted by GIZ with the implementation of the Programme in Germany. They tailor the curricula specifically to the requirements of the foreign companies involved, in close coordination with GIZ. Many of the 18 training institutions have already been valued partners of the MP for several years now. At the same time, several new partners with attractive company portfolios were welcomed at the work meeting in January.<\/p>\n
