\"\"Cooperation exchanges within the framework of the MP always prove to be a particularly effective way of stimulating the transfer of knowledge and the establishment of business relations with German enterprises. They provide an opportunity for participants to meet a range of German firms and discuss potential business transactions face to face, as they would at a trade fair. T\u00dcV Rheinland Akademie held a cooperation exchange at the end of June 2017 for the MP participants from Mexico.<\/p>\n

In addition to DEG \u2013 Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft, a subsidiary of the KfW banking group, six further German enterprises registered for the event. Latin America expert Dr Hildegard Strausberg opened the cooperation exchange with a talk on German-Mexican economic relations. Then Ernesto Garcia, the Mexican representative of DEG in Mexico City, presented the organisation\u2019s activities and illustrated financing possibilities on the basis of selected reference projects. The projects included the financial support of the Mexican firm Vinte for the building of roughly 2,000 houses and flats according to green standards for people with low and middle incomes as well as the provision of a long-term loan in the amount of 20 million euros for a leasing project of CHG Meridian Mexico. This leasing scheme enables Mexican businesses to use state-of-the-art technology in their production and administration while keeping investment costs at a reasonable level.<\/p>\n

\"\"The second part of the event was devoted to personal meetings. The Mexican participants each had 20 minutes to speak with a German representative in a round-table setting. A bell signalled when it was time to change tables, giving each Mexican participant the opportunity to talk with the representatives of German enterprises. Business cards and business ideas were eagerly exchanged.
\nMatchInn GmbH from M\u00fcnster was of particular interest to the participants; the duo Richardo Rehfeld and Claudio Garc\u00eda act as bridge builders, providing business development services for German enterprises seeking to expand their business activities to Latin America. Some of the Mexican participants\u2019 cooperation projects were excellently suited to the profile of the young firm; hence, further individual business appointments followed the first meeting. The participants also found Leyco Chemische Leyde GmbH from Cologne, represented by Joel Herrera Borja, particularly interesting. The company produces chemicals for a range of industries. Both customers and suppliers for the enterprise were found among the Mexican MP participants. This meeting also led to other profitable business appointments and the signing of a contract.<\/p>\n

\"\"Ernesto Garcia was clearly impressed by the scope and sustainable development of the MP: \u201cSome of the Mexican Programme participants\u2019 projects fit our portfolio, and therefore further talks will surely follow in Mexico City. I am very pleased to be part of this event in Cologne today.\u201d
\nThis cooperation exchange shows that such formats have strong potential for success \u2013 even if the participation rate on the German side could have been higher. The knowledge transfer in a rather informal setting and the established business contacts make a lasting contribution to the achievement of the training objective.<\/p>\n
