Umida Tadjieva is a businesswoman through and through. After completing her degree as a paediatrician she attained a Master’s degree in health management and in 2014 founded a company that now makes it possible for patients in Uzbekistan to have access to high-quality medical treatment in Germany. The company is also active on the international health market and trains staff from medical and other fields. Yet, as an entrepreneur she doesn’t only export patients and staff, she also ensures that medical expertise flows back into Uzbekistan. Natural remedies for Uzbekistan
Nika Pharm Servis GmbH based in Tashkent is a producer and distributor of medicines and food supplements. The company owns OXYmed, the largest and most modern pharmacy chain in the country, and further firms in the field of pharmaceutics. 500 of the roughly 700 employees work in the pharmacies. Together, they generated about 200 million euros in turnover in 2018 and contributed to improving healthcare in the country.

Dishold Hudayberdiev is assistant to the managing director of General Motors Uzbekistan, which belongs to the Uzbek trade association, Uzavtoprom. All manufacturers, suppliers, importers and exporters active in the automotive industry belong to Uzavtoprom, which – among other things – co-ordinates a series of economic and social projects that experienced General Motors Uzbekistan employees are expected to implement. Bakhodir Sultanov – Better fabric quality with German machines after training in German industry
The textiles manufacturing industry is becoming increasingly important to the Uzbek economy. So too is Turantex, which was set up in 1998 by managing director Bakhodir Sultanov. What began as a jersey manufacturer is now a supplier of ready-to-wear clothing, which employs 250 people and exports to Russia and Kazakhstan. Shukhrat Aliev is responsible for production and retail at the trade association of the Uzbek shoe and leather goods industry, Oz’bekcharmpoyabzali.
