The textiles manufacturing industry is becoming increasingly important to the Uzbek economy. So too is Turantex, which was set up in 1998 by managing director Bakhodir Sultanov. What began as a jersey manufacturer is now a supplier of ready-to-wear clothing, which employs 250 people and exports to Russia and Kazakhstan. Shukhrat Aliev is responsible for production and retail at the trade association of the Uzbek shoe and leather goods industry, Oz’bekcharmpoyabzali.
