Cooperation exchanges within the framework of the MP always prove to be a particularly effective way of stimulating the transfer of knowledge and the establishment of business relations with German enterprises. They provide an opportunity for participants to meet a range of German firms and discuss potential business transactions face to face, as they would at a trade fair. Prior to the introduction of international sanctions as a reaction to the Iranian nuclear programme, Germany maintained intensive business relationships to Iran. German-Iranian trade in 2016 amounted to about 3 billion euro in total. German exports to in den Iran grew by 26 percent in 2016 to reach 2.6 billion euro. Continue reading
In autumn 2017, 18 Indian executives visited 17 renowned enterprises and institutions in Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. The product spectrum of the Indian enterprises represented by the MP participants ranged from LED lighting and solar systems to parts for sheet metal processing, automotive parts and hydraulic systems as well as trading with metal processing tools. Founded by Johannes Schmalz in 1910, the company of the same name has been family-run ever since – now in the third generation. When the electric shaver revolutionised the market after World War II, Schmalz GmbH gave up its razor blade business and focused on transport equipment for use in the agricultural and industrial sectors. Gradually, the firm developed into the leading manufacturer of vacuum technology for the most diverse industrial uses. In the meantime, many MP participants have got to know Schmalz as a particularly good example of a medium-sized enterprise in a rural region. Continue reading
